Our director Rob Mclndoe was honoured to be invited to the University of East Anglia (UEA) Business School on Wednesday 22nd November to participate in a Q&A with students studying for a Master’s Degree in Operations & Supply Chain Management.
Invited by senior lecturer, Dr Arijit Bhattacharya, Rob gave a presentation about Johnston Logistics UK before the assembled students took the opportunity to explore his long experience delivering modern logistics.
The group asked some fascinating questions about Johnston Logistics UK’s operations, the importance of efficiency and particularly the use of new technology to track goods and integrate with customers. The increasing need to provide fulfilment for customers of online retailers like Amazon, the impact of Brexit on the ability to recruit staff and whether JLUK could actively advise their clients, were also discussed at length.
Recent UEA graduate Art Cheung was also in attendance and briefly told the group all about her recent dissertation conducted at JLUK. Investigating ‘Internal Benchmarking of Warehouse Operation Efficiency’, she achieved one of the years’ highest marks and gained the author a master’s degree with distinction.
“We love having the opportunity to support the UEA and local students” says Rob. “It was great to visit the university and speak with students about the realities and challenges of delivering modern logistics. They were very keen and astute, which bodes really well for the next generation of logistics leadership. No doubt many UEA students will go on to play a very positive role shaping logistics in the UK and further afield.’
