Johnston Logistics UK continues relationship with Linde Material Handling

We are pleased to announce that we have extended our relationship with Linde Material Handling to continue supplying Linde trucks for our site at Snetterton, Norfolk.

At Johnston Logistics UK we’ve been operating a fleet of Linde trucks for the last 30 years. Rob McIndoe, Finance Director at Johnston Logistics UK commented “we only deal with trusted suppliers and Linde is one of those, that’s why we’ve had such a long standing relationship with them.”

Johnston Logistics UK provides third party logistics services to customers from our 130-acre site, just off the A11 in Norfolk. The site at Snetterton has some 640,000 sq ft of warehousing. We carry out over 1 million transactions every year and have around 200,000 pallets moving across the site so we need to have machinery that we know is top quality and can rely on to work for us.

At Johnston Logistics UK we operate a variety of different types of warehousing and store a wide range of goods from wine to furniture to soap powder so we need safe and efficient trucks to work across the site. The new Linde truck fleet includes very narrow aisle trucks, reach and counterbalance, through to ride-on pallet trucks which are continuously on the go – moving approximately 7,000 pallets a week around the warehouses.

With the safety of our staff always foremost in our considerations we chose to have a reach truck fitted with Dynamic Mast Control (DMC) plus an onboard camera. These features help reduce the stress and strain on the operators necks and backs as they can position the forks on the very top racks without having to look up. The trucks, with their Electric Reach System, offer a safer, more efficient operation during the lifting process. As we operate the only public bonded warehousing facility in Norfolk, we store and handle a great deal of alcohol including wine. Therefore, safety and efficiency are of the utmost importance to us.

“When the operators are using the new truck they prefer it to the other trucks on site and we’ve got a lot of Linde trucks onsite. They use the DMC – it’s stable, it’s instant and there’s less damage. You can’t fault the service that Linde provide. You put the call in and within 2 to 3 hours you’ve got someone on site to deal with the problem. If a part’s not there it will be there the following morning.” Jason Pullen, Warehouse Manager, JLUK .

Andy Sherriff, one of the operators added “The on-board camera enables me to position the forks on the very top rack without looking up, which really reduces the stress and strain on my back and neck.”

As a family owned business, we pride ourselves on the relationships we’ve forged with customers and suppliers alike. We want to ensure our customers receive a truly first class service from us and so it’s important for us to choose suppliers that have the same ‘can do’ attitude as we have ourselves. Our 30-year relationship with Linde is just one example of how we work closely with all our suppliers.
