Leading logistics providers Johnston Logistics UK are preparing for an anticipated bumper summer by investing in spring improvements to key facilities.
Their 700,000 square feet of warehousing has received various enhancements over recent months, including flooring, lighting and racking to prepare for what is anticipated to be a particularly busy period.
“It’s an exciting time for the business. We’ve invested in a range of upgrades to key warehouses to increase capacity, safety and durability. Summer is always a busy time, so it’s important we’ve made these changes ahead of time” says Rob McIndoe, Director of Johnston Logistics UK.
The first improvement is new racking throughout Johnston Logistics UK’s warehouse Unit 4. This will give an additional 190 spaces, boosting capacity to over 3,700 pallets.
In another warehouse, new LED lighting has been installed throughout, making it much brighter and safer for staff to handle goods both manually and with equipment such as forklifts.
And thirdly, an important area outside another large warehouse has received a fresh surface. New PAV2 concrete has been laid along with additional drainage. Again, the new surface will improve safety for the articulated lorries, forklifts and pedestrians who use it throughout the working day.
In addition, Johnston Logistics UK have also improved roof access and safety on all their warehouses. The safe roof access system, manufactured by Fall Angel and installed by Premsafe, allows trained staff to safely tether themselves whilst performing maintenance or repairs.
“With any reliance on physical structures or equipment, it’s critical to stay on top of maintenance and invest in the future. The safety of our staff comes before everything, but these improvements also help us ensure the absolute continuity and quality of the service we deliver our clients” concludes Rob McIndoe.
As well as investing in physical facilities, the logistics experts have recently made a further investment in IT and technology with state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System (WMS) software and brand-new website. Both reflect the growing status of the company.
From their 700,000 square feet of warehousing in Snetterton, Norfolk, Johnston Logistics UK provide storage, logistics and fulfilment for businesses in sectors including food, other fast moving consumer goods and commercial products.
As an HMRC Customs and Bonded Warehouse they have a particularly strong reputation for handling wine and alcohol for both leading names and growing brands.
The latest additions of new racking, flooring, lighting and safe roof access are further examples of the company’s aim to remain up-to-date and future-facing.
