With the Christmas period now behind us, we can officially declare it Johnston Logistics UK’s busiest yet!
Though UK high streets reported a decrease in sales, overall figures have been boosted by the continued growth in online retail. As providers of eCommerce fulfilment for retailers and manufacturers alike, we’ve felt this increase first hand!
According to sources, the UK now has the highest percentage of retail sales made online in the world at 15.6%. For perspective, this is followed by China at 13.8%, Norway at 11.5%, Finland at 10.8% and South Korea with 10.5%.
Throughout the festive period, our warehousing operated at capacity with the number of transactions and rotation of goods going well beyond the normal increases felt at Christmas. Fortunately, our recent investment in IT and continuous staff development helped ensure the demand was always well satisfied. Construction of a further 66,000 feet of additional warehousing at our Norfolk site is also well underway.
As eCommerce fulfilment experts, we provide a complete end-to-end service from receiving, sorting and storing goods, to picking, packing and despatching customers’ orders. With clients in food, household goods, electronics, stationary, clothing and particularly alcohol, we were delighted to fulfil thousands of orders that no doubt put smiles on people’s faces over the festive season!

Again, for most of our clients, the Christmas and New Year period saw a significant rise in customer demand which meant a greater reliance on us to ensure everything was in the right place, at the right time. In particular, our position as UK leader in alcohol logistics saw an unprecedented level of wine smoothly transition through our care to retailers and consumers across the UK and beyond.
