During the current coronavirus crisis, our recently appointed Health & Safety Administrator, Dean Salisbury, has not only achieved his IOSH Managing Safely qualification but helped make Johnston Logistics UK a safer workplace for all.
With a connection to the company stretching back to 1995, Dean formally joined Johnston Logistics UK in 2014 and has been a respected member of our operations team ever since. With a great ability to impart his experience on others, he was recently promoted to our Health & Safety team and now delivers our regular ‘toolbox talks’, keeping colleagues trained on safe working practices.
However, more recently, Dean has been spotted with a roll of blue tape in hand!
As part of our team tackling the impact of COVID-19, Dean has been implementing measures to help increase social distancing, including operations-wide risk assessment, clearly displaying new guidelines and the demarcation of safe and excluded areas with blue floor tape!
Dean has also been part of our crack team conducting a successful nationwide search for maximum-strength anti-viral hand sanitiser for use throughout the site and to further ensure the safety of the eCommerce packages we fulfil for clients.
Despite the lockdown’s impact on normal operations, Dean has also successfully studied and gained his IOSH Managing Safely certificate. This accreditation is further assurance Dean has the knowledge and skills needed to manage health and safety within our teams.
Outside work, Dean is a keen runner. Typically running two or three 10K or longer races per month, he begun this year running half marathons. However, with his planned schedule of runs curtailed by the lockdown, he has continued to run for pleasure alone.
Next, Dean will be working towards NEBOSH health and safety accreditation as he continues to become an even greater asset to our team.
