Johnston Logistics UK Sees Overseas Enquiries Double Since January

Leading provider of food, drink and FMCG logistics, Johnston Logistics UK, has reported a significant rise in overseas enquiries since the UK officially left the European Union in January.

Since the start of 2021, they have recorded an average increase of 120% in enquires from foreign companies looking for a logistics partner to help them import goods into the UK. Many also wish to create a hub from which to access other countries, particularly Europe.

Rob McIndoe, Director of Johnston Logistics UK states, “We’ve lengthy experience helping companies build a solid distribution base in the UK and Europe, so we’re thrilled to be receiving double overseas enquiries from companies with goods as diverse as clothing, furniture and wine. Hopefully, it’s a result of our growing global reputation.”

From Johnston Logistics UK’s 700,000 square foot facility they deliver warehousing and logistics for businesses throughout the UK and handle imports from all corners of the world.

In particular they have seen a sizeable increase in enquiries from new world wine countries, including South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Rob continues, “With our HMRC Bonded status we’re able to hold imported goods and alcohol whilst deferring tax, which has no doubt led to the influx of enquires from wine and spirits producers. We can receive, store and distribute alcohol direct to consumers, which makes us attractive as a UK hub for overseas drinks companies.”

The Norfolk-based operation handles logistics for wine merchants, leading drink brands and major retailers, including 50% of all wine sold through Asda’s supermarket. They typically handle over 20,000 pallets of alcoholic drinks each year.

Rob concludes, “Despite both Brexit and the pandemic, it’s great to see our international enquiries continuing to grow. We’ve also recently invested in technology and warehouse refurbishments which help us deliver even better logistics for both our UK and overseas clients.”

With over 40 years’ experience, Johnston Logistics UK is trusted by major supermarkets, leading brands and growing companies alike to deliver their third-party logistics. They provide a full range of services including warehousing, supply chain logistics, contract packing, pick and pack and e-commerce fulfilment.
