Marc Bonsor of Johnston Logistics UK has been announced as a finalist for the Talent in Logistics’ Forklift Operator of the Year award.
The prestigious award is presented to the forklift operator who demonstrates a high level of skill and safety through a number of practical and theoretical challenges. Marc will be travelling to Telford on 11th September to demonstrate his skills aboard a forklift truck.
Since 2017, Talent in Logistics has sought to help the logistics sector overcome people and skills challenges by working together as a community. This includes conferences, webinars and their annual awards, featuring the Forklift Operator of the Year and LGV Driver of the Year competitions.
Originally an agency worker, Marc has worked for Norfolk-based Johnston Logistics UK for more than a year and is now a permanent part of their team. Highly respected by his colleagues, he also deputises for the shift supervisor.
As a forklift operator, Marc’s skills are employed during every shift unloading and loading lorries using a counterbalance forklift truck. Outside work, Marc is an avid go-kart owner and cyclist. He also plays in mid-field for Johnston Logistics UK’s own company football team.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Talent in Logistics Awards will be an online event streamed live on YouTube and social media on 1st October. At the event, the winner of the prestigious Forklift Operator of the Year award will be announced following their success in the rigorous trials.
In describing the award, Talent in Logistics state “Forklift Operators have a challenging role; it is fast paced and requires a high level of concentration. The title for Forklift Operator Of The Year will be awarded to the person who demonstrates a high level of skill and safety through demonstration of both underpinning knowledge and practical lift truck operation.”
