East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has presented an award to Johnston Logistics UK for its sponsorship of last year’s Ride for Life.

Support from the Snetterton-based providers of storage and distribution services, meant EACH was able to bring in over £23,000 from its epic 200-plus mile cycle.

The charity’s Ride for Life takes three days. It starts and finishes at Johnston Logistics UK, visiting EACH’s three hospices – The Treehouse in Ipswich, Milton just north of Cambridge and Quidenham in the Norfolk countryside – in between.

A group of 16 rode the entire course in 2017, with 17 others joining them for individual legs of the ride. EACH hopes even more will get involved this year, when the event is once again sponsored by Johnston Logistics UK.

“We’re always delighted to be able to support EACH” said Rob McIndoe, Director of Johnston Logistics. “They do something truly amazing for children and families when they need it most. It’s great to host the start and help raise awareness of the event, even if it does mean I have to get on my own bike and put in the miles!”

Johnston Logistics UK deliver warehousing, logistics and fulfilment services for businesses throughout the UK, from their 130-acre site in Snetterton. It will once again serve as the start and finish point for the event in 2018.

Sophie Mayes, EACH Norfolk Corporate Fundraiser, said: “We’ve been lucky enough to benefit from the incredible support of Johnston Logistics UK for over 20 years. Their sponsorship of Ride for Life, one of our biggest fundraising events, helps us to maximise income – given we need to raise over £5 million a year, this really couldn’t be more appreciated. If you’re a keen cyclist, make sure you’ve signed up to Ride for Life, a glorious way of exploring the East Anglian countryside!”

This year’s challenge begins on Friday, 20 July. It costs £150 and each participant must raise a minimum £400 sponsorship. That package includes dinners, beds and breakfasts at city locations and luggage transfers.

Cyclists unavailable for the entire event can choose to do just one leg of the route, covering around 65 to 70 miles. The cost is £50 and minimum sponsorship of £150 is required.

Everyone taking part will have access to first aid assistance if needed, a back-up vehicle, kit list and training information, mechanical help, fundraising support and more.

EACH cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across East Anglia and supports their families. For both those accessing care and those who have been bereaved, EACH is a lifeline at an unimaginably difficult time.
